Quality not Quantity

Some of the best advice a person can give to a student of Hifz, is that quality not quantity as in
not to proceed until you have perfected. One of the biggest mistakes that students, including myself make is that they tend to go ahead whilst failing to keep up with revision, which can lead to forgetting what one has memorised in the past.
-
As akhee Saifur Rahmaan has already said There is no point proceeding with your memorisation if you have not perfected what you learnt previously. One routine can be to give sabaq, then give revision of previous 2/3 days sabaq and then to give longer revison, maybe half a juzz starting from Juzz 1.
-
By keeping up this routine you can ensure that you keep on going ahead but at the same time, what you have learnt previously stays fresh in your mind.
-
Whilst on the topic a gem from Abdullah ibn Mas'ud "Certainly, I consider/regard a man who has forgotten knowledge which he used to know/possess to be the result of the sins he used to do."
